SMALL
SIDED GAMES PROGRAM
“Let
the game be the teacher”
In
the winter of 2007 we will be launching our new Small Sided Games Program
which will be based upon the principles of attacking soccer. In this program
we will teach our players a style of soccer which emphasizes the following:
Possession based attacking strategy with the emphasis of switching the
ball across the width of the field to unbalance the opposition in order
to create opportunities to play penetrating balls forward and to create
confident individuals who can display their
creativity and flair in the attacking third.
We
will teach our players to do this through emphasizing the following:
Attacking principles of play
Width
Depth/Support
Mobility
Penetration
Improvisation
Play out from the defending third with quality passing as a primary option
Combination play amongst the midfield players in the
middle third of the field
Individual creativity by using 1v1 moves in the attacking third of the
field
Each
player will receive a package at the commencement of the program which
will help educate them on the five attacking principles that we'll be
covering over the winter program. At the end of the program there will
be a written exam on everything that was covered.
PROJECTED
GOALS
We
will educate each player on the Attacking Principles of Play through playing
different small sided game each week. The program will be divided up in
to five, three week segments in which we will educate our players in an
innovative and fun manner in order to develop a player's technique, skills,
confidence and enjoyment of the game. Besides improved technique, decision
making and understanding of the game, our goal is to help players develop
their leadership skills on and off the field.
- Identify the skills
and ability level of each individual
- Focus on improving
the four key technical aspects of soccer:
- Receiving the
ball
- Retaining the
ball
- Running with
the ball
- Releasing the
ball
- Integrate all five
principles of attacking soccer
- Teach proper form,
habits and execution of skill
Players
interested in participating in the small sided games program must be at
a premier level if they are born in 1997 or 1996 and regional level if
born in 1995 or 1994. |
